April 2009

Stormy weather, Power Outage and Tornados!  It's that time of year.  Let us help make your home, business or organization REDCROSS READY
Below are some guidelines. Do you have a disaster plan for your home or
business?  If not, contact us at 970-351-7779, to schedule a class or
classes.  We are here to help Northern Colorado be ready for anything "Mother Nature" blows our way this season.

 TORNADOS

Prepare a Home Tornado Plan

  • Pick a place where family members can gather if a tornado is
headed your way.  It could be your basement, a center hallway,
bathroom, or closet on the lowest floor.  Keep this place uncluttered.
  • If you are in a high-rise building, you may not have time to go to
a lower floor.  Pick  a place in a hallway in the center of the
    building.

Assemble a Disaster Supplies Kit

  • First aid kit and essential medications
  • Canned food and can opener
  •  At least 3 gallons of water per person
  • Protective clothing, bedding or sleeping bags
  • Battery-powered radio, flashlight and extra batteries
  • Special items for ifant, elderly or disabled family members
  • Written instructions on how to turn off electricity, gas and water (If authorites advise you to do so) (professionals will need to turn natural gas back on)

yourself from flying glass and other flying objest. The tornado may be
    approaching your area
