Also covered in the course, safe play, preventing injuries and accidents, recognizing and responding to breathing and cardiac emergencies, choking procedure, rescue breathing, and CPR. ViewSaturday, April 10, 2010 8:00am - 12:30pm BASIC WATER SAFETY FOR BABYSITTERS1 ClassThis class is a must for any Babysitter or Caregiver that will be supervising children around any aquatic environment. This is 4 ½ hour American Red Cross class covers skills in: The Risk of Drowning-Who Drowns?, Prevention of Drowning, General Water Safety, Recognizing an Aquatic Emergency, Basic Water Rescue Skills-Helping Others, Self-Rescue, Emergency Care After an Emergency, Rescue Breathing, Life Jackets, Water Activities and Safety, Home Pool and Spa Safety Checklist. Participants must be 11 years old but do not have to be able to swim to participate. Upon successful completion of the class, students will receive certification in Basic Water Rescue that is valid for 3 years.Chilson Rec. Center
